I think they are a perfect storage onion, but it's the only type I've ever grown, so I'm no real judge.Eight Gate Farm NHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15877942009419912353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-24700097075903059662016-05-25T07:15:40.805-04:002016-05-25T07:15:40.805-04:00I sure do hope they "grow up." I will be really disappointed if we have onion crop failure, since we rely on them so much.Eight Gate Farm NHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15877942009419912353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-43876146335942318302016-05-25T07:14:27.441-04:002016-05-25T07:14:27.441-04:00I think your summer weather is headed our way this...I think your summer weather is headed our way this week--yay! Glad you are still rich in onions. We were hoarding, but decided it was wise to start using them in quantity, which meant yummy French Onion Soup for me!!Eight Gate Farm NHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15877942009419912353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-19546875294331582112016-05-24T21:10:54.536-04:002016-05-24T21:10:54.536-04:00I've struggled to find a good storage onion .....I've struggled to find a good storage onion ... my own fault for buying local seeds rather than ordering specific types. Mine usually start to rot. Congrats on your storage, hoping I can get that success some season!Susiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10354350096358468967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-77708891641302960942016-05-24T18:05:56.652-04:002016-05-24T18:05:56.652-04:00Nine and a half months is exceptional! I ended up chopping, sautéing and freezing the last of my onions before they all spoiled. It's always a bit of a miracle to watch those wispy little onion seedlings "grow up"!Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812702328134261533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-86783138021570205452016-05-24T15:17:50.388-04:002016-05-24T15:17:50.388-04:00Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the on...Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that's behind this year - it's almost as if we went from winter to summer in the past week. Most of the "storage onions" varieties of onion I've grown have stored fairly well. Like you, some have sprouted/rotted but I still have a few bunches hanging in the basement that are just fine. We definitely won't be running out this year!Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.com
