I keep thinking that tapping the trees here would be nice. I haven't a clue what a sugar maple looks like though. I've heard you can use any maple, but it might not have as much sugar so needs boiling more. Of course I just have one single tree on my property. I know others tap on town trees. That's a beautiful color on the syrup. We only use the real thing, the commercial syrups are high fructose corn syrup with some maple flavoring, just nasty, poisonous stuff.David Veltenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07710293718143454000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-70613164824469058282015-03-30T19:26:27.057-04:002015-03-30T19:26:27.057-04:00Your onions look fantastic!! It's a pleasure to help them make the syrup now and then.Susiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10354350096358468967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-35114391696337671992015-03-30T14:46:25.033-04:002015-03-30T14:46:25.033-04:00I'm a snob too, only the real thing will do! Once you have the real thing, it's hard to go back. I wish we had a forest of maples to tap! Luckily, we do have lots of local maple syrup in our area, so that's the next best thing.Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-313396449380749054.post-73179301069782930632015-03-30T08:52:12.122-04:002015-03-30T08:52:12.122-04:00That's a great harvest you got there! I don't think our one maple tree would make much syrup though.Dave @ HappyAcreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03441364543023807886noreply@blogger.com
