No harvests, but...
Happy Festivus!* to the Daphne's Dandelions community, from Will (The Gentleman Fahmah) and Diana (The Kitchen Goddess) at Eight Gate Farm!
*The holiday for the rest of us! (Thank you Seinfeld)
It's the time of year
when all the spicy farmer porn appears.
(a holiday poem).
I really liked Daphne telling us what seeds she is buying, and why. Continuing that theme, here are my purchases for the coming season. I'm trying to keep it to two sources this year, with the largest order from Fedco. I like the company, and the free shipping on seeds if you order $30. But I'm not happy with the fact that you have to order cover crops and tubers/onions from 2 other Fedco web sites, and the shipping is high. But the prices themselves are low, so take your choice.

Beautiful classic holiday picture, thank you! It is always interesting and fun to see what seeds other gardeners are investing in and I like that you are explaining why, it's always helpful. I've barely starting thinking about next year beyond "not so many peppers next year - show some self-control!".
ReplyDeleteHappy Festivus to you too!
I love the holiday feeling I get from looking at that picture!! I still miss snow at christmas.."spicy farmer porn" HAHAHA..I LOVE IT!! Also, You and Daphne have both inspired me to make a list of my own. I realize now how important it is to know your own climate and what grows well. Thanks for the post..very informative on the seeds!
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few seeds in common. Last year Fiesta didn't do so well, but the year before I'd never seen broccoli as huge or such large side shoots. I figured I'd better grow two varieties this coming year as maybe one will do well in some years and the other in other years. At least that is the hope.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a slacker, compared to you "real" gardeners. I tend to buy at the last minute, and plant whatever is still available.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely holiday photo you have there. Happy Festivus back atcha all at Eight Gate Farm from Happy Acres!
